  • COVID-19: New Restrictions

    Following on from the latest Government announcement we are happy to announce that we are re-opening from 17th May 2021 for both overnight leisure stays and food and drink. 

    You can book an overnight stay with confidence knowing that we offer free cancellations on all fully-flex rates up until 10:00am on the day prior to arrival.

  • COVID-19: Do I need to pre-pay for my room on booking?

    We require credit card details when you book our fully-flex rate but only to secure your booking. We do not ask for full payment up front. Payment for your stay and any extras you have taken whilst you are with us will be required when you check out and not before. 

  • COVID-19: Can I cancel my booking if things change?

    Yes - whilst we really hope that you won't need to cancel your booking, on our fully-flexible rate, as long as you cancel your booking before 10:00am on the day before you’re due to arrive, there will be no charge. If you do need to cancel simply give us a call on 01904 638733.

    Bookings cancelled after 10:00am on the day before you’re due to arrive will be charged for the first night’s stay. No Shows will be charged for the first night’s stay.

    The safety of our guests and team members is our number one priority so we have put in many measures across our properties to ensure our guests can feel confident when visiting and staying in our properties and our team members can feel confident working in them too.

  • COVID-19: Government Changes to VAT in Hospitality

    We can confirm that the rate at which you booked your guestroom still stands and we would like to explain the reason for this.

    The reduction in VAT is a great initiative which has been introduced to help hospitality businesses during these challenging times as per the guidance released from the Government. The full announcement can be seen here and below is a summary of the key messages:

    “The government made an announcement on 8 July 2020 allowing VAT registered businesses to apply a temporary 5% reduced rate of VAT to certain supplies relating to:

    • Hospitality
    • Hotel and holiday accommodation
    • Admissions to certain attractions


    The temporary reduced rate will apply to supplies that are made between 15 July 2020 and 31st March 2021.

    These changes are being brought in as an urgent response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic to support businesses severely affected by forced closures and social distancing measures.”

    After sadly being closed for three months and the increased costs we need to absorb in line with government guidance, our business has been severely affected by the pandemic. This initiative is a huge support to our business and the hospitality sector as a whole and it also enables us to bring more of our valued team members back off furlough.

    We hope you understand why the rate at which you booked your guestroom still stands. We hugely value your custom and support and we are really looking forward to welcoming you.   • Upgrade Available?

    Yes character rooms and feature rooms. £25.00 additional charge per night. 

  • Do you hold rooms provisionally?

    No we take a credit card to guarantee reservations and our cancellation policy then applies.

  • Are there special rates for corporate bookings?

    Corporate rates are available on request.

  • When is check in?

    3pm – Early check in can be arranged on request.

  • Do you have a gym?

    We don’t have a gym on site but you are very welcome to use the gym at our sister property Middletons, which is just a 10 minute walk away. You’ll just need to show your welcome card from the Judge’s when you check in to the Emporer’s Gym to gain your complimentary access.

    It’s at 52 Skeldergate  which is YO1 6DS – or just pick up a map from reception to guide you there.

  • When is check out?

    11am

  • Do you offer late check out?

    Available at £10.00 subject to availability until a maximum of 1 pm.

  • What is offered in the guest rooms?

    Tea and coffee making facilities, en-suite bathroom with bath and/or shower, complimentary toiletries.

  • Do you have a room with a bath?

    Our Judge’s Suite, Feature and Character rooms all have baths.

  • Do you have travel cots/Z-beds available? Do you charge for it?

    Yes, we have a limited supply and there is no charge.

  • What are the bar’s opening times?

    The bar opens from 11am to 11pm Monday to Saturday. 10.30pm on Sunday.

  • Is Wi-Fi available?

    Wi-Fi is now available in all rooms and all public areas.

  • Is car parking available?

    Due to our central location, we do not have any car parking on site. We recommend Mary Gate car park and this operates on take a ticket and pay on exit system. Charges are approximately £16/24 hours. If you make your booking directly with us you can take advantage of a £5 per day rate at the Marygate Car Park. Unfortunately, we can’t reserve or guarantee you a space, but when you check out just ask for a token and we can add the charge to your room account. You are unable to drive to us and drop off luggage between 10.30am – 20.00pm at the moment due to social distancing measures within the pedestrianised area.

  • Do you have a lift?

    No lift, but we have ground floor rooms and all of our staff are here to help. 

  • Are pets allowed in the rooms?

    We’re sorry but we are only able to accept working dogs.

  • Are dogs allowed in the bar ?

    We love to welcome well-behaved owners and their dogs to the inn, but please be aware that not everyone loves your dog as much as you do. To help us keep happy customers of both the two and four legged varieties, please observe our simple requests:

    • Dogs are allowed in the bar area, but not in the dining only areas
    • Please don’t let your dog jump or pester other guests, or their pets or disturb others by barking
    • Make sure your dog is clean and dry before they come in to the inn
  • Is there disabled access?

    Yes- we have one accessible guest room. The Cellar Bar and downstairs dining areas are fully accessible.

  • Do you serve breakfast?

    Served from 7:30am ’til 10am weekdays and 8am ’til 10:30am weekends and bank holidays. Full English or continental breakfast is available.

  • Can you organize packed lunches for the morning? What do we get and how much does it cost?

    Available on request in advance at £10 per person.

  • Do you offer a wedding breakfast?

    No.

  • Do you offer personalised menus?

    Personalised menus are available on request.

  • What is your cancellation policy?
