Judge's Lodging boasts a terrific location in the centre of York, in north-east England, placing guests near some of the city’s main attractions. We have the pleasure of serving within a Grade I listed building — a Georgian townhouse — and are a popular retreat for a weekend break.
The building’s origins date back to 1710 when it was built as a private residence. Some years after the death of the owner, the building became the residence of judges attending the Assize court sessions and remained so until around 1976. Often, these sessions addressed the more serious criminal cases.
You’ll sleep easy in our hotel rooms, which are bursting with character. In our standard rooms, you’ll find a comfortable bed and a well-stocked hospitality tray. Book a feature room and you’ll be staying in the largest type of room in the hotel. Our character rooms have extra special views, and the small double room rewards you with a view over the courtyard. The accessible room provides you with easy access and has specially adapted facilities for a comfortable stay.
We boast two fabulous bars. Relax in the cosy dining and drinking areas of the Cellar Bar and dine in the unique glass box, which gives you a feel of the outdoors, indoors. Sip a smooth pint of ale in our Cask Bar, or refresh with a gin or whisky from the quirky Medicinal Cabinet. When the sun comes out, sit out on our terrace and savour your tipples in one of the biggest beer gardens in the city.
Menus are crafted with ingredients from trusted local suppliers and our dishes are cooked from scratch. Dine at the hotel and treat yourself to an authentic taste of Yorkshire. Our fabulous food, refreshing ales, comfortable accommodation and central location in York make Judge's Lodging a superb place to stay.
