The Judge's Lodging boasts a terrific location in the centre of York, placing guests near some of the city’s main attractions. The grade I listed Georgian townhouse building offers character and history, making it a popular city retreat.
The building’s origins date back to 1710 when it was built as a private residence. Some years after the death of the owner, the building became the residence of judges attending the Assize court sessions and remained so until around 1976.
You’ll sleep wonderfully in our guest rooms, which have a new reimagined look from our recent refurbishment. All rooms are full of character and offer the very best comfort. Ranging from cosy to character to feature, we have a variety of individually designed rooms perfect for a comfortable stay.
We boast two unique bars. Our cosy and atmospheric Cellar Bar is the place to head to for an intimate drink or dining experience or head upstairs to the bar with Judge's legs, something quirkier. When the sun comes out, sit out on our terrace and savour an award-winning ale or glass of wine.
Experts craft our menus with ingredients sourced locally, dishes cooked from scratch and authentically Yorkshire. Dine in the beautifully designed main restaurant with its classic approach to make your dining experience exquisite.
Our fabulous food, refreshing ales, comfortable accommodation and central location in York make The Judge's Lodging a superb place to stay. If you like what you’ve seen or experienced with us, why not explore some of our sister hotels and inns?
We’re proud to be part of the House of Daniel Thwaites - a wonderful collective of unique places to visit that are spread across Britain, from the Lakes down to the south coast. We’re all surprisingly different but united by our desire to offer superb hospitality in our fabulous properties.
